Studio on the Hill

Oh what joy it is to have a little space to be yourself, listen to old music, create and be inspired! Surrounded by artwork by friends and a few of my own seconds I could not be happier. My husband made this little studio for me a few years ago with left over cedar planks and blue pine. It has little crank windows, turquoise shelves and the softest lemony walls. I sit at a old 50's chrome and yellow laminated table rolling out my clay and making whatever comes to mind. Two guardians sit at the covered porch dreaming of bones and cats to chase. In the summer time I crank open my windows and listen to the birds sing. It is mostly peaceful except of course my music! In the wintertime I have a little radiator heater to keep the small space warm and love hearing the patter of rain against the windows. I recently was given the most wonderful magazine called "Where Women Create"- it is such fun to take a peek into someone's special space. So many little clues to their persona there. I would love to hear where you love to create!

  1. I am so thrilled to be your first follower and the first to post a comment on your new blog!! Yea!!
I create at my kitchen table . . . . an old Mexican farm table with scars, stains and a wonderful worn surface that I wish could talk and tell me about it's past. I yearn for the day when I will have my own studio space such as your own. Your studio looks and sounds enchanting as it your work!
Congratulations and welcome to the world of blogging!

  6. bliss - your very own workspace! I knit on the sofa in our sitting room (usually in front of the TV, often watching star trek!) gradually more and more of the sofa is taken up by balls of yarn until my long-suffering husband mocves it.

  7. Your studio sounds wonderful! We are moving soon and my husband will have a studio again. He misses the wheel & teaching. There is nothing like it:) I think clay aceo's would sell very well... unfortunatly they wouldn't fit in my aceo holder :( But that is OK, they would be wonderful! I'm sure of it!

  10. Hi. Saw one of your angels in a treasury this morning. When I visited your shop and saw where you are located I had to make myself known. I'm Christina..I made the blue angel wing dangles in the treasury. My husband and I have a goal and dream to move to the Oregon Coast..around Depoe Bay. Love to meet and befriend Oregon artists. Hope to get acquainted. Bye for now. Later.

Oh! Love the angels. great work.

Your town sounds fabulous, I love the west coastline. I say I need a barn but I like your studio better!
